
Today is my birthday and what better way to celebrate than with a delicious chocolate cake! I scoured the internet for the best chocolate birthday cake recipes and I found some amazing options. Here are five of my favorites:
Chocolate Birthday Cake – Birthday
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
- In a large bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour evenly into prepared pans.
- Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely.
